That’s sadly what can happen during those test drives... Better have head gasket blown by me here than 8000 miles away by a customer... Still SUCK though :(
Anyone wants a super cheap nice limited edition version C Honda Beat with a blown head gasket?? :)

wouldn’t it be easier to fix it then send it?

These are small margin cars... This one would have been $4200 shipping included. Our chief mechanics time is worth more than the margin we were gonna make on it. Changing the head gasket on a Beat is an engine out procedure...

What year is this? And will you provide the parts?
Actually, don’t answer, this is a terrible idea :)

Changing the head gasket on a Beat is an engine out procedure...
at first I was like :o but then I remembered the easiest way to do head gaskets on a 6.0 Powerstroke:

1992 limited edition version C :)
Only part you really need is a 30$ new gasket...

Lol wtf!! Actually it might be doable from the access point behind the seats but damn that must be tight...

“really need” I’m not sure i’d let anybody i like with any semblance leave without atleast a new set of head bolts(if they’re required to be replaced) and timing belt if it has that, and waterpump if it sits behind the timing belt/inaccessible in normal repairs :P Sexy little beat-around-town car for sure, way nicer than a VW Up! or similar.
Edit: i see your comment about it being an “engine-out” procedure for a sane man, which just means all the fresh parts if i was doing it and keeping it :D
![]() 01/18/2018 at 05:51 |

Yeah of course but my point is that it’s a 50$ repair and a few headaches along the way lol
![]() 01/18/2018 at 05:52 |

Does it still run? As in, is it still RoRo shipping capable?
![]() 01/18/2018 at 05:54 |
|
Oh yes, I drove it back to Amagasaki Motor without any problem... It doesn’t even overheat nor leak coolant if driven normally...

Too new for me, thankfully :)
Not gonna go through a painful homologation process
![]() 01/18/2018 at 05:55 |

Damn...the problem with engine-out on a Beat would be the fact there would be no service manual in English to even help... :(

It’s not really the price point that scares me, but the availability. Getting parts for the Chevy is easy (Thanks Rockauto) but my Japanese is a bit rusty.
![]() 01/18/2018 at 06:00 |

Nah I hook up all my customers with parts at cost for their cars...
![]() 01/18/2018 at 06:01 |

It is fairly basic though... And once the drivetrain is out everything becomes much easier...

L’allemagne est pas loin... :D

That’s awesome. I mean, not the head gasketr part, that sucks, but the Beat.

How much? I am a self-certified HondaBro and it would be stupid for me not to ask.

$2700, shipping to the US or anywhere included... Pretty good cosmetic condition, bilstein coilovers...

Effectivement :)

Good to know, now get me a 30 year old junker :)

No, I blew up the head gasket 4 hours ago preparing for the sale... Drop me an email if you want, I’ll send you detailed pics then... flavien dot vidal at gmail dot com

Damn. I’ll try, if I get my damn email to work. Shits been wilding lately

Haha worst case scenario I’ll answer back to this post later posting the pictures ;)

I am not at a time in my life where this would be a good idea yet.
Importing a car is on my automotive bucket list.
Soon.

I won’t be THIS cheap though haha... Unless you like blown head gaskets :D
![]() 01/18/2018 at 08:23 |

Oh god, you mean to tell me that I can get a mostly working kei car imported and shipped to my door for a little less than a tax refund?
![]() 01/18/2018 at 08:54 |
|
Not to your door :)
To your local ro-ro port... You still have to import it but to the US, importation is very cheap...

Hmmm, this screams D16/B-series swap......
![]() 01/18/2018 at 09:21 |

How easy is it to fit a B16 in one of these?
![]() 01/18/2018 at 09:27 |

Will a MB M120 V12 fit under the hood?

I am surprised you still have the Cappuccino. This car is the reason I buy lottery tickets.

Don’t think it was ever imported/homologated to denmark, only got the Suzuki Wagon-R and Daihatsu Cuore iirc, so sadly won’t be an option for actual fun car :( Well that, and the money lol.
![]() 01/18/2018 at 11:12 |

Shoehorn a b16 or b18 into it!

When half of the country is under heavy snow, it’s not the idea time to sell convertible sports cars there haha. No hurry though, it will sell :)
![]() 01/24/2018 at 06:20 |

Such a shame. Seems so unlikely it would happen in the small amount of miles you wrack up.
Hopefully you know a guy :)
![]() 01/24/2018 at 06:26 |

Yeah I didn’t check that car myself before buying and I’m fairly certain the person who checked it for me didn’t look for possible gasket failure. The car overheated as soon as I started to push it, within seconds. The car will be shipped to a friend in TX who has time to take care of the gasket :)
